Introducing the California Port Data Interoperability Grant Program

byMike Mansour|Dec. 28, 2023

ISC is excited to announce that we’re leading a pioneering project, the first of its kind in the US: the California Port Data Interoperability Grant Program. Funding for the Program comes from Schedule (1) of AB-178, of which $27,000,000 will be administered directly to the ports. The overarching goal is to improve data system interoperability between the ports and their stakeholders, with a focus on the adoption of DCSA standards.

The program consists of five parts:

  1. Outreach and discovery
  2. Funding criteria development
  3. Proposal evaluation
  4. Funding awards
  5. Technical oversight during implementation phase

We’re pleased to be working with the CA Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) on this project, and to be collaborating with Port of Los Angeles, Port of Long Beach, Port of Oakland, Port of San Diego, and Port of Hueneme. Our other excellent stakeholders are Momentum (acting as grant administrators), as well as Data CRT, Latacora, and Cloud303, who round out the technical advisory committee. Leading the project on ISC’s side is lead data scientist Mike Mansour.
